The Palm Inc. is a company that has developed a mobile platform known as the Palm operating system. The Palm OS is programmed in the C and C++ programming languages. The operating system belongs to the Palm OS family of mobile platforms.
The Palm OS does not support multi-processing of data and as a result there is no confusion because only one application can run at a point of time. Until and unless one process has completed running or else it is stopped, another process cannot be initiated. The Palm OS uses a graphical user interface system. It supports monochrome as well as high color definition screens having a resolution up to 480 X 320 pixels. Graffiti 2 is a hand-writing recognition system that is put into place by the Palm OS. The graffiti 2 system scans for input from papers, photographs and touch screen devices. If it detects something as an input, then the signal is passed on to the OS and the needful is done to process and display the output.
The OS also supports the playback of audio and video files. In case recording features are available on your smartphone, the OS also allows recording of audio and video files on your mobile phone. The Palm OS supports various types of connections such as the serial port or USB connection, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Infrared connections. The operating system also allows expansion of memory which is done by adding a memory card in the smartphone. The power conservation system put into use in the Palm OS is very efficient. For power conservation, the Palm OS switches between sleep mode, doze mode and running mode according to its use. Another noteworthy feature of the Palm OS is the security tabs used in it. To log in to the OS, the password needs to be entered or else access is denied. The data in the Palm OS is in an encrypted format. So even if the data is intercepted, the hacking is futile as it requires the proper decryption algorithms to use the data.
